Capturing Mason County: Photography Contest

The Mason County Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 #MasonTxPhoto Contest is now open for entries through February 5, 2025.

Mason County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a photography contest. All photography enthusiasts are welcome to enter. Each entry will require its own form however, participants are limited to five entries only.

  • Free to enter.
  • No Photoshop or overlaying of images.
  • No water marked images.
  • No product names.
  • The overall winner with most votes will receive $300, and Category Winners will receive $50 each.
  • Any photos submitted including the winners will be for the use of the Mason County Chamber of Commerce.

  1. Hunting (live animals only)
  2. Mason Square
  3. Scenic Landscapes
  4. Seasonal
  5. Sunrise & Sunset
  6. Wildflowers
  7. Other

All entries must be submitted on or before Wednesday, February 5, 2025, to be considered.

Winners will be announced during the Mason County Chamber of Commerce annual awards banquet on February 27, 2025.

Winners of each category will be featured on the MCCOC website photo contest page with photo credit.

RULES:
  • Photographs must be taken within the City/County of Mason. Photographs of subjects beyond this range will be disqualified.
  • Submitted photographs must be the work of the entrant, and not previously entered in the Mason County Chamber of Commerce Photo Contest. By entering the contest, you legally attest that the entered images are your own work. Any plagiarism will be considered fraud against the Mason County Chamber of Commerce and may incur legal action.
  • The contest administrators reserve the right to reject any entry for inappropriate content.
  • Photographers should follow all local, state, and federal laws while taking their pictures. Trespassing on private property – including railroad tracks! – is against the law.
  • Entries may be in color or black & white. Photo collages, composites, or photographs with text overlays will not be considered.
  • Entries should be in jpeg format. Recommended image size: 8 x 10” at 300ppi (approximately 2400 x 3000 pixels), or larger (NOTE: 8 x 10″ is not a required format; the images can be any shape). Minimum image size to enter: 8 x 10” at 72ppi (approximately 576 x 800 pixels). PLEASE NOTE: Photographs must be at least 2000 pixels in width or height to be considered for the $300 prize. Images below the minimum resolution will be considered for recognition in the web gallery and for the $50 prizes.
  • Participants are limited to five (5) entries only. If more than five photographs are submitted, the first five will be entered into the contest, and the others discarded.
  • Contest photos in the online gallery are presented for fine art purposes. The Mason County Chamber of Commerce may request model release forms if any photo with a recognizable likeness is considered to be used in promotional materials. Photographs of children may only be entered with the express permission of their parents or guardian.
  • If the judges determine that no submitted photograph is of sufficient quality to award one or more of the advertised prizes, those prizes will not be awarded.
  • The categories will be judged by public vote. Judging period will be Feb. 5th at 10AM to February 15th at 10PM. Each person can vote one (1) time. The overall winner will be selected by a committee vote.
  • PLEASE NOTE: By entering a photo the Entrant agrees to: Confirmation that they have the rights to the photo and release of anyone pictured in the photo. Additionally Photographer Releases: Copyrighted Materials, and the Photography Release for the use by the Mason County Chamber of Commerce.
